When to Use Modifier GT
Use modifier GT for Medicare and certain Medicaid telehealth claims delivered via two-way, real-time interactive audio-video systems. It is the Medicare-specific counterpart to modifier 95 and is required on claims submitted to CMS for synchronous telehealth services. Confirm payer requirements before using GT versus 95.

What to include: Indicate that the service was rendered via interactive audio-video and document the patient's physical location at the time of service. Medicare requires the originating site to be listed on the claim.
Adding Modifier GT to a Superbill
Superbilled lets you add modifier codes directly to each line item on your superbill. When generating a superbill with modifier GT, make sure to include your NPI number, the patient's diagnosis code, date of service, fee charged, and amount paid. The modifier appears alongside the CPT code on the claim.
